Dover Athletic missed out on the chance to close in on the Blue Square South play-offs as they slumped to defeat at home to struggling Worcester City.

The Whites’ dip in form was extended to one win in six league games by two second half strikes from the visitors. The first defeat at Crabble in 2010, it leaves Andy Hessenthaler’s side four points adrift of the top five with 10 games remaining.

Dartford re-established their 11-point lead at the top of the Ryman Premier with a 1-0 lead at Maidstone United. Lee Burns scored the only goal of the game at Homelands on 10 minutes to edge the Darts nearer to the title and leave the Stones hovering four points above the relegation zone.

Margate stopped a run of four successive defeats, all at home, by beating Tooting & Mitcham 2-1 at Hartsdown Park. Sam Jones and debutant Leroy Huggins were on target to give Iain O’Connell his first points since taking over, although the Gate remain bottom of the table.

Brendon Cass scored his second goal in as many games since joining Folkestone Invicta from Chatham Town. The poacher’s goal just after half-time was enough to beat a gritty Eastbourne Town 1-0 and keep the Seasiders a point clear in the Ryman South.

Sittingbourne’s winning streak was halted as they surprisingly went down 3-2 at home to Burgess Hill Town. Karl Dent and Tom Bradbrook were on target for the Brickies, who are still five points from the play-offs.

Whitstable Town remain precariously poised just above the bottom two after a 3-1 defeat at title hopefuls Croydon Athletic.

The Premier Division Cup semi-final between Sevenoaks Town and Beckenham Town is evenly poised after the sides shared a 2-2 draw in their first leg.

Elsewhere in the Kent League, Hythe Town’s slump continued as they were held at home by bottom side Lordswood. Greenwich Borough climbed to sixth with a 3-0 win at home to Sporting Bengal United, while Norton Sports and Deal Town drew 3-3.
