What has Gordon Brown's party really done for us?

Prime Minister Gordon Brown launched the Labour Party’s general election campaign this weekend with the plea that the public should trust him as a caring politician. He also gave a strong hint that the General Election may be on the 6th May at the same time as the local elections for Swale.

To do so he would need to dissolve Parliament on the 8th April. Am I a cynic or will he call it mid-March but keep the Election on the 6th May just so that he can avoid having a Budget on 18th March. That way ‘The Easter Bully’ would not have to be honest with voters and say what he is going to do about Britain’s near £200 billion debt before the election. Thus avoiding frightening voters and the international money markets.

In launching Labour’s election campaign Gordon Brown asked us to “give Labour a second look”  with the slogan “Labour will make a fairer future for all”.

So let’s have a “second look” look at what Labour has done to Britain over the last 13 years.

In 1999 in Paris they said we were “the first generation that could look forward to no wars and to none of our children dying in wars”. Well since then we have lost 385 of our brave young soldiers and now learn from the Chilcott Inquiry that Gordon Brown was responsible for under funding essential equipment and body protection.

Gordon Brown said he had got rid of “boom and bust” but we have a severe recession, three years of a failing economy, the biggest national debt in history, rising unemployment, rising mortgage repossessions and increasing company failures. Not exactly a raging success story.

Gordon Brown says he will give us a fairer future yet the gap between rich and poor gets greater and greater and the tax for low income families, pensioners, single parents and those on benefit has increased from 10% to 22%. What’s fair about that !!

Labour said they would protect our Borders yet over the last 13 years immigration has risen from 40,000 to 250,000 a year and we are headed for an unmanageable population of 70 million.

Gordon Brown categorically denied bullying staff and told Piers Morgan so. Yet it is now alleged that he manhandled staff at No. 10 and bullied them so much that three contacted the National Bullying Helpline and the Cabinet Secretary had to verbally warn him. That’s not a trustworthy caring politician.

Yes we have had a second look at Gordon Brown and his failed Labour Government and the majority of voters will reject them, whenever the election. He may be able to get away with bullying his staff but he will not do it with the voters.

We have looked again at Labour and do not like what we see. We need change from Gordon Brown and this miserable Labour Government.

How about  OAP's winter fuel allowance, free bus passes through out the country for a start,  I dont see the Tories turning their backs and refusing these allowances,  I hope the pensioners rememberthis when casting their vote

And made life so easy for all of those immigrants and others who can't be bothered to work that the few hardworking people left in this country will soon be unable to support the masses using the welfare system and the country will plunge further and further into the red!

What has Gordons party done for us, quite a list and yet poor old Neil, has to resort to ill informed myths as a response.  If Gordon was so bad, why is "Call me Dave" only two points in front in the opinion polls, after 13 whole years?

I personally think this was the worst Government ever, except for all the others.

been reading the daily mail neil ? im sure your comments are welcomed at your local pub ,but i can assure you i would rather talk to immigrants and benefit recievers than your sort.

I am neither racist, nor do I debate politics at my local pub my point is I am deeply concerned that as a country with the debts we have we cannot really afford the pressure on our scholls and housing services by further expanding our population.

A young girl we know has been on holiday to a european destination twice, got pregnant by different men each time (has never been in touch with the fathers again) and is now living in a very nice 3 bedroom house courtesy of the state costing us £1000 per month. Many hard working people could not afford such a property. My point is that perhaps the balance is wrong and support perhaps a little to generous.

Minimmum wage, Conservative Policy?  Don't you recall M Howard voting against and suggesting teh minimmum wage would cost 2,000,000 job's?

As for other comments, it's a strange world you live in where you seek to see bad inwhat is good.  What other party would try and do so much for working people?  the list might be "only" 20 but could be 200.

May I point out that your statistic about rabies is incorrect. The last time a human acquired rabies in this country was in 1902. Classical rabies has been eradicated in the animal population of the UK, although some bats in Scotland do carry a similar virus. Also, and more to the point, fox-hunting and rabies transmission are completely unconnected.
